Our Purpose

Embraced creates inclusive, thriving communities by connecting generations through the transformative power of arts, culture, and creativity.

Who We Are

Established in Melbourne, Embraced is a not-for-profit organisation with a big mission: to inspire, unite and connect communities through arts and culture — celebrating intergenerational bonds and promoting wellbeing.

Our programs create meaningful opportunities for older and younger people to connect, create and contribute. Designed to amplify lived experience, deepen understanding and foster social change through creative practice, our work helps build a more inclusive, compassionate society.

With a growing national presence, Embraced works in partnership with aged care providers, councils, youth organisations, schools, community groups and artists to deliver place-based projects that strengthen social connection and celebrate the richness of intergenerational relationships.

Mission

Connecting generations
through art.

Purpose

Embraced creates inclusive, thriving communities by connecting generations through the transformative power of arts, culture, and creativity. By uniting people to create art, we celebrate intergenerational bonds, connect communities and change perceptions, embracing differences, fostering belonging, and nurturing wellbeing — building a foundation for lasting social change.

Our Back Story

Founded in 2017, Embraced began with a simple but powerful insight: connection is healing, and creativity is a bridge. Our Creative Director, Rose, was inspired by her experience with an intergenerational buddy program in Berlin, where she saw first-hand the impact of meaningful relationships between younger and older people.

On returning to Australia, she founded Embraced as a creative response to disconnection, ageism and fractured communities. What started as a portrait project in Victoria has grown into a national movement for intergenerational connection through the arts.

Create

Create opportunities for people of all generations to connect with new forms of participation and each other through intergenerational arts programs.

Connect

Connect, engage, and inspire communities by raising awareness of Embraced and promoting the value of intergenerational arts through strategic visibility, advocacy, and inclusive experiences.

Sustain

Our commitment to long term organisational capacity and sustainability ensures that our organisation continues to make a meaningful impact.

Our Values

Inclusion

We welcome and celebrate all voices, across every generation and background.

Connection

We build meaningful relationships based on trust, walking alongside our people, partners and communities with care.

Creativity

We embrace our own and others’ creativity to create meaningful change.

“These eye-opening interactions have not only enhanced my musical and social skills, but I’ve also learnt things from older residents’ experiences that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.”

 18-year-old Musician Jax Giles-Webb (VIC)
